Gordon,

that will give you audio described tv, but those sets will not announce
channels as the NetGem and Portset systems do.

There are now mainstream consumer digital recievers on the market from the
likes of Sony which have built in A.D. so why not go for one of those?

I don't think there is a replacement yet at around the same price. Portset
do a media centre which gets Freeview with audio description, and also has a
DAISY player incorporated, but this costs over £800. They also have a set
top box which is over £600. While both these products talk you through all
the features, I think they are far too expensive for most of us. I have
been lucky enough to get the media centre at a bargain price second hand,
but otherwise would not have bought it. It is very good, but the DAISY
player doesn't work nearly as well as the Plextor or Victor machines, so I
don't really know why they bothered to include it.

Hi all, please can anyone tell me what has taken over the NetGem free view
box? My friend is after one, not sky nor cable, one for her TV. Any help
apreciated.

Thanks, Christine W.
