Hi John and Peter Yes, that's the one I would like to go for, so have requested it. Many thanks both for your input, most helpful. A bit pricey, but I suppose you get what you pay for. Cheers. John. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jackie Cairns Sent: 13 October 2011 11:47 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Olympus recorders Hi Clive and Peter Many thanks for this really excellent info on your preferences. I would like to have a good, small recorder, but one which could also act as an MP3 player and thereby name songs and folders etc. Someone suggested the LS11, but I haven't heard of this. Thanks, all comments welcome. Although there is voice guidance through the menus, not all functions are accessible, such as the clock, system information and reading filenames. Olympus have taken a step backwards from the DM-5, which has text-to-speech, and reintroduced prerecorded speech prompts as in earlier models. Having said that, as a recorder, once set up for the recording you wish to make, it is ideal to take out of your pocket or handbag and capture what you wish to record. Of course, you can also plug in external microphones. With this latest model there is now a music folder and the recorder folder with folders A to E, so you only have one folder for storing media files such as audio books, music and podcasts. You could put these in separate folders in the music folder, but as there is no voice feedback on folders and files you create you would have to memorise where they are. for memory storage, you have 4GB internal memory and it will accept a 32GB microSD card. I hope the above info is helpful.
