Hi all,
Yes that is correct. Neither of the kernel mode drivers will allow you to exclude applications from streaming sound through the Total Recorder driver. This is because they operate like Stereo Mix; that is the driver captures the audio similar to the way Stereo Mix works. Amro, I'm glad you've figured this one out.

Thanks Chris. Switching to the user mode virtual device driver gave me what I
want.

I was poking around today in settings and it appears that you can set an
excluded applications list if you are using the user mode virtual device
driver. Unfortunately when using the kernel mode filter driver the excluded
applications list disappeared. Shame as this excluded applications list seems
to be just the ticket.

Cheers,
Amro

   Hi all,
If you are using Windows XP you can safely install the user mode virtual
device driver. This will allow you to record things like internet
   streams without the speech chattering. I'm not sure how it quite works;
it appears you tell the system to use the user mode driver and the
playback program will obviously try to stream audio through the driver.
This can cause odd behaviour like garbled or no audio output, but it
   should work in most cases.
I'm sorry I can't offer any more help.
Good luck in getting this working.
