Andy, when you claimed DLA initially you'll probably find they never actually spoke to your doctor or confirmed your blindness other than based on what you said. Understandably now they are checking and I'm sure you can appreciate why they won't just take someones word for it. They do realise that someones sight is unlikely to have gotten better, but on occasions it does happen, particularly with some of the medical advances in the last few years. You'd be amazed at how many people claim disability benefit only to then make a recovery and never tell the DWP.

I chased it up and was told I'll need an eye test! cos I don't have a BD8 or CVI [where do you get them from anyway?] I was told a decision would be made next week regarding this, and that I'd eventually get an appointment with an ophthalmologist to confirm what I say is true about my condition. So much of this proof thing is about box ticking, it's obvious my condition will never change, and therefore having been awarded lower rate mobility cos of blindness, moving to higher rate for me, should be straightforward, but as far as they are concerned, something miraculous could have happened to change my condition, and it's up to me to prove otherwise. How much does that cost the tax payer! - Andy----- Original Message ----- From: "Hazel & Kim Darvell" <darvell1181@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Kim & I have both had calls from d l a but low and behold they have cocked up first class. I had a form sent to me that should have been sent to the ophthalmologist then they did not send the correct form , so what do they want but for me to run around and amend their mistakes, not on your life will I do that. Other blind people I know have been turned down because they cannot prove their blindness , so how do we give these certificates when they were not in exsistance when we were registered?Off of my soapbox now May the battle continue. Martin got his callsome time ago, being under B for Brown, and he sent his registration form in as asked for. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them though, so best keep at them, even if our good friends in Westminster are going to giveit with the left hand and take it away with the right eventually. Last November, DWP left a message on my answering machine, to which I left a message in return, expecting a reply, I never got one. I have just phoned the DWP, and no record exists of them phoning me. Has anyone received a phone call or letter from the DWP concerning the higher rate mobility of the D L A?** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq No virus found in this incoming message.
