This has been common in bingo calling for years. Personally, there are a lot
more offensive things than this. It would never have occurred to me as a
blind person to take any offence at this.

Subject: [access-uk] OT... Offensive?

Hi all,
I was at a social event tonight and, during the interval bingo session, the
bingo caller was calling out all the well known slangs for his numbered
balls. I.E. Two little ducks 22. Lucky for some , number 7. two dozen 24.
legs 11, one and one, eleven, any way up, 6 and 9, 69! Then he started
calling 2 and oh, blind 20. or 5 and oh, blind 50! I found this offensive,
but didn't like to say so at this time. He kept it up, lucky for some,
number 7. One little duck, all alone, number 2. Unlucky for some, one and
three. 13. Eight and oh, Blind Eighty! One and oh, blind ten! I thought,
what is it with this blind thing. I can take blind alley, blind date, blind
chance, I can understand this in this day and age. But I thought, when it
comes to bingo parlours, in 2006, haven't they come around to something more
acceptable than calling blind 50 for five and oh? Or blind forty for four an
doh? I wonder if any of you have been to a bingo parlour and, if so, have
you experienced such calling by the bingo caller? The caller in question was
on a small scale as far as bingo consessions are concerned, , being an
interlude entertainment for a country dance event. Still, I found his
calling offensive and just wanted to ask the list if I'm being O T T? If
not, should I write a letter? Or should I just drop it and move on.
