Hi Pele and others on this list.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for all the nice messages, both on and
off list.

No Pele, I've not even considered applying for another job. Prior to the
one that hit the fan, so to speak, I underwent 13 interviews and although I
had the appropriate qualifications and indeed, a lot of experience, my
applications inevitably proved unsuccessful.

On one hand, I am delighted with the outcome of my case and although I may
end up receiving a couple of thousand, for hurt feelings, I, on the other
hand, have lost all of my confidence. I am a blind person with a
qualification in Social Work and have 13 years experience of working with
blind and visually impaired people, but still, I could not secure a job. I
didn't even get an interview for an R.N.I.B post in Clydebank, for which I
did have the appropriate qualifications and experience.

I have always been a carer and have, like many on this list, undertaken
various voluntary jobs for many years, but it seems when wages are involved,
disabled people are still not considered.

I'm asking myself now, why I should really bother assisting others on a
voluntary basis , if the state keeps knocking me back, every time I attempt
to get onto my feet.

As I said above, I am delighted that my case against my local authority has
been successful, but I've ended up disheartened. Not bitter at all, just
lacking the spark and enthusiasm I once had.

I don't really feel that I'll get my confidence back, and to some extent
have adjusted to this over the last couple of years. I am very lucky as I
have a wonderful wife and live in a nice part of the country and I am
surrounded with many pets to care for, so, although I am delighted to have
won my case, I am profoundly saddened to find myself here in this
position, knowing that when I did work, people valued my assistance,

I am 52 years old and to be frank, many abled people, much younger than me
cannot find employment, so I'm thinking that I'll just focus my life on what
I currently have and try occasionally to assist people on this and other
lists..

Very best wishes.
Andy
