not necessarily.
if you copy the identities folder first you can get the folders back later.
if he has to reformat, he can do a non destructive reformat where all his settings programs and other data is put in a folder called my old disk structure.
I can not stress enough do not mess about with programs you no nothing about when installing and removing them then messing with the registry, this is a very hard lesson to learn.
the saying goes if it aint broke don't fix it.
Andy, before you jump for the recovery disk, have you checked for viruses and Trojans with nod32?
it is very good at detecting more viruses than the other Mickey mouse scanners on the market.

Hi Andy.

This rings a bell also. Within System / System Restore have you got the check-box Turn off system restore checked? I'm not sure if by turning it on again, that you can then go back as there would probably be no restore points in there. Also Andy, when I repaired OE in the past, I ended up with a brand new OE, thus, you'd loose all your folders that you have created.

Best wishes.
Andy

Hi Andy and Simon -

I've tried going back to different restore points, but so far it keeps
telling me there was nothing to restore to, asking me to try another date!

| Hi again Andy.
