It isn't a problem once you know but when you expect something to work

Hi Jackie,

Yes, it is to do with the way Nokia's audio server handles programs like
Talks.  Talks can't currently get at the audio server at a low enough
level to speak when the ring tone starts to play, so there is a
conflict, and Talks stops the ring tone.  So if you don't mute Talks,
you just hear the name of the tone, and if you do, you just hear the
tone.

I have learned to live with it.

This is because, on TALKS third edition, you have to mute TALKS, arrow
up and down the list of tones, then select which one you want and put
TALKS back on.  I agree it's a bit tiresome, but that's how it is.

I am trying to change the ring tome on my N82, but, although I can find
the selection of possible tones, I don't seem to be able to get them to
play.  I have no such trouble with my 6600.
