Hi, I must admit, I wouldn't consider doing an exam on anything other than 
my trusty old Braille Lite these days, or the computer if I really had to. I 
certainly wouldn't personally go back to a perkins now, I'm just so used to 
technology. It is important to have a notetaker whose behaviour you can 
completely predict and control for such purposes though. I'd be interested 
in why you think the Perkins is so preferable Jackie. I think that could 
open up some interesting issues.

Hi Husna

My mum and dad bought my Perkins for me when I started school in 1968, which 
I think cost something ridiculous like £14.  The same machine sits on my 
desk at home just as fit and well as it was back then.  It no longer fronts 
my Braille I love ABBA stickers, but it's as good as new, and I wouldn't 
swap it for anything there is today unless I really have to contemplate it. 
I took it to Birmingham in July to do my BTEC advanced Braille exam, and it 
served me well.  It's one of these sacred things no sophisticated technology 
could replace for me!

wow, the same brailler worked for 41 years! must be some kind of record. at
