Iain, yes I remember those too, but I suspect previously they've been poorly
marketed. I don't remember RNIB selling such things before.

No. There was also sonic glasses. They had the normal spectacle frames with
little earpieces. They sound very similar to what has just gone on sale.

I think you might be recalling the Sonic Torch. It didn't do very well cos
it was junk, but that said, I'm grateful for invention, cos sometimes we
reach an end product worth having, it just hasn't happened in the area of
mobility, in my opinion. I for one, don't want to walk down the street
looking like a robot! A Dalek, now that's a different matter <smile> -

I wonder who it is anyway, that decides we need all this extra kit? I had a
dog for 30 years, and a long cane for the last 6, and have been fully
mobile, and safe, maybe others have different experiences, but I really
don't want more gadgetry unless it really makes a significant difference.
Now, where've I put me car keys <grin> -
