I suspect more people would learn Braille if they were given the opportunity.

Well James, forgive the laugh, LOL, but no more than 4-5% of the blind population read Braille. Im one of the fortunate one's who can, but rarely does.

People often try and prevale on me to do Braille transcription, but when I make them aware of the above fact they are usually taken aback somewhat!

presumably someone has booked a slot in Stephen Fry's diary this time
around?

They have, but the audio version won't be available until August 25. is
anyone actually going to order the braille version then? yes I admit
braille is bulky but I'm perfectly happy to read a book in that format,
that's what it's for after all. Like I said I would have liked to have seen
Daisy audio, but this might well have needed to be produced using
concatenated speech rather than a human reader. Then there is the myth that
all blind people read braille, I encounter this a lot and wouldn't be
surprised if it is shared by the publishers.
