does the toddy spell place names and anything you write as well?  This 
sounds like a rather serious down side to me although I suppose you can just 
record your addresses instead.

Hi Ian,

It doesn't use a synth, and therefore, couldn't read any text.  If you don't
record a voice message for the contacts, it spells them out.  It is a very
clear British human voice.
