Hi My experience is that NVDA does not work well with Outlook 2003; I don't think it is officially supported although outlook express is. Anyway, there are plenty of applications NVDA supports well, the progress that NVDA made is impressive. I use it often on my machine alongside my commercial screen reader and it is very stable. I know of people who use it as their only screen reader and this is impressive. But I hear, from word of mouth, that the final works better with Outlook. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Nutt Sent: 27 November 2009 13:54 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: NVDA 2009.1 has been released Hi Chris, But what you haven't told us is if you have tried it with Outlook 2003 or 2007 or not. If not, then you are just making assumptions that it will work without evidence. It's just I think NVDA is very very good for what it can do and I can see people switching to it in the foremost of time, particularly if they can no longer afford the commercial offerings. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Nutt Sent: 25 November 2009 23:04 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: NVDA 2009.1 has been released Hi Chris, Now you are being silly <Smile>. I downloaded it this morning, deleted the old version and tried it again. Still crashes within Outlook 2003 and 2007. In fact, it crashes Outlook itself. Horrible program it is. Perhaps you are using an older version. I cannot prove this though. Mind you we are all different <smiles>. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Nutt Sent: 25 November 2009 09:54 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: NVDA 2009.1 has been released Hi chris, I don't enjoy. It still can't access messages in Outlook 2007. If you start reading down, it crashes Outlook. It may be open source, but it is the most unstable screen reader I have seen for some apps.
