Generally speaking NVDA is pretty adequate. It's only 11mb to download, easy
to install and doesn't clutter your system. Or you can download the portable
version and run it without even installing it. Give it a go with your prog
and see if it helps. I have it here installed for the odd job and I can see
why some people say it is even a replacement for Jaws.

Ok the program is to do with one of my radios for hams, it enables me
to program the radio myself. now there are some screens that Jaws cannot
read, so I was wondering if NVDA would read it better for me.

It might help if you named the software you are trying to read the screen
from, then both JAWS or NVDA user's may be able to give you a meaningful
answer to the question.
