Hi,

You get the stations on Freeview, but not the number you can get on Sky
or Cable packages. (Enough for me though.) I tried to count them but
some have been tuned in twice (to different frequencies) so I didn't
really get clear numbers easily.

In addition to the card of course you have to have a good enough aerial
and it's quite possible you'll need a new one fitted from a local
supplier. This will mean your shopping around. Prices vary. They are
affected of course also by what you need in your area and your home. We
have a bungalow and so had to have extra length fitted to the pole
(bracketed on the wall) so as to give enough height for a good signal.
Across the road, someone else had one fitted, but they required very
little extra height.

I suggest you start by going to look at

http://www.nebula-electronics.com

You can learn about the cards and prices and also check your Post Code
to see that you can get DigiTV in your area.

In addition, the Confederation of Aerial Industries lists dealers for
aerials in your area. Their WEB Page is at

www.cai.org/uk

Tel. 020 8902 8998

I found a number of aerial fitters in our area from their list.

That's the pattern I worked out last night, Steve - and thanks.

Have you found any way of checking what's actually scheduled for
recording? (I notice there is a figure 1 placed before the programme
once set, so maybe that is it.

Hi Carol,

If you are talking about setting up timed recordings, this is easy.

First, make sure you are on the channel on which you wish to record,
this is the easiest way to do it. After that:-

1. Hit Alt-E for EPG.

2. Select seven day guide.

3. Having hit enter, shift tab, and you will hit your list of
programmes for today on the channel where the receiver is tuned.
Select the programme you want, and hit Alt-N for new timer.

4. Having done this, tab to exit, and away you go.

If you are talking about traversing the tab controls in the settings
dialogue, then control-Tab is the order of the day. Just press
control tab to go between tab sheets, and tab to move round them. It
really isn't difficult at all.

All the best

Subject: [access-uk] NEBULA CARD REVISITED

Hi everyone,

Recently Steve Nutt recommended the Nebula Card as the way to go for
Digital Freeview and audio description and we purchased our card
(which, incidentally, is available from Nebula Electronics either as
PCI or USB).

I must say at the outset that I'm delighted with this and the software

affords all my wildest dreams of a TV/radio setup. We now have
Digital TV/radio anywhere we want in the home (since we have radio
speakers to use when necessary), a seven-day Guide which downloads and

is very easily readable, we know what channel we're listening to and
in fact the software works very well straight out of the box. The
reception is clearer than I've ever known it and we have a lot more
"top" on the recordings over other methods. In addition, because of
the way recordings are made, I have discovered that I can go on using
my computer with speech and the recordings are not affected.

There is just one very small problem with the setting of programme
recordings and that is really because I haven't been able to access
that part of the manual on the NET because of restrictions which
prevent me from venturing into those areas where others might see
information from my computer. It seems as I tab around that area that

there are three-four tabs and you end up going from one to the next
simply by tabbing, so it makes it difficult to work out a reliable
strategy for setting recordings. (I gather Jackie and Ian have had a
little difficulty with this.)

Steve, if you or if anyone else on the list has conquered this one or
got help from Nebula's Technical people and you now know in exactly
what order the actions should be performed then please let me know and

I will think I really do have the perfect system! Let me just add
that I have managed to record items - and once I recorded more than I
thought I was going to - but today I didn't manage to record what I
wanted, so it's still a little "hit and miss" for me.

I look forward to any further comments on this.
