Hi Mark,

You will still need to get your Windows 2000 settings copied
first.

George, as I said in my origional post I have a new hard
drive to install xp to. I wlil swap out the old 2k disk and
start froma fresh unpartitioned drive. The idea being I can
install the old hd with win2k on at any time if the xp does
not go to plan.

Hi Mark,

If you are installing XP over the top of 2000, I suggest you
review the following first.

George, thanks.

Does this mean I need to install the XP first to be able to
migrate the settings from my old 2k setup?

Hi Mark,

There's a Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in XP, under
Accessories, System Tools. It's fairly intuitive when you
start it from XP.

installation

I am shortly moving to XP Pro from win2k. I have a new
drive to install to so I can move back to the old OS if
anything goes wrong with it all.

I believe there is a method of taking the windows settings
from the old installation so it can be transferred to the
new XP installation. Can someone point me to a site that
describes the procedure and what can be achieved with this
method please?
