Hi Barry

The PC is only for my own use, just for trying out stuff so I can keep the new
machine clean and not clogged up with downloads I then uninstall. I realise
that a screen can be turned off and have indeed done this myself in the past. I
had a vague recollection that someone told me once that even if you keep the
monitor turned off, there must be one plugged in. I now know this is not true,
so a cheap set of speakers will serve my purpose.

up shot is it'll run grand with no monitor, but it's handy to have a monitor
somewhere in the house in case you need eyes.

You'll not be able to get a system to run normally without a graphics card,
and since most machines now have a card built onto the motherboard it's a mute
point.

  Hi Barbra.

Each to their own I guess, but as you say, there shouldn't be any technical
issues with no monitor connected. Its mainly for troubleshooting in case the
machine won't boot that the monitor would be needed, but if you say its only a
testing machine then fair enough.

If it works, then why not recommend it? I have a new PC and as the old one
has too many issues to try and sell but still in good working order, I want to
hook it up just for trying out new software for usability before I clog up the
new PC with it. Also might use for downloading, this way keeps the new PC clean
and a bit safer. What issues might there possibly be with no monitor?

I really thought that was a dumb question!

      Hi Barbra.

Not at all, a lot of blind people do this but I personally don't
recommend this. Windows will expect to see a graphics card installed in your
system, but if there is no monitor connected to the card, Windows shouldn't
throw a wobbly.

        Hi

This is probably a stupid question, so please don't think me a dunce
for asking! I just want to confirm I am right before I do anything.

Am I correct in thinking that you can't run a desktop PC with a set of
speakers only and no monitor connected?
