Vodafone do a PCMCIA 3G data card, I had use of one for a couple of months 
about a year or two ago.  I think T-mobile do have something similar.  The Voda 
one is a monthly contract:

don't need to physically connect to your mobile but rather have an additional

  Presumably, any mobile company offering 3G services (as all 4 of them in the 
UK do) should be able to give you this service.  3G was originally marketed as 
offering the opportunity for users to download and watch videos but I feel that 
placing more emphasis on the ability to surf the internet faster would have 
been a better bet.

  If you have bluetooth on your laptop, you should be able to use this to 
connect to your mobile phone.  From the little research I have done, Orange 
seems to offer the best rates for Internet Access.  Rates are generally based 
on the amount of data downloaded.

I.e. connecting wirelessly via a laptop anywhere and not at specific hotspots. 
So far I've only found o2 at £30 per month but surely there must be others out 
there?  Anyone else using such a service and if so how much and how good is it?

else for such services?
