[access-uk] Missing messages

I recently set up a Gmail account but decided to do a few tests before
switching over to it.
Over the years I have been plagued by bouncing mail from Yahoo groups
so one of my tests was to subscribe to a fairly high traffic list from the
Gmail address. I have been comparing the list mail which arrives in my
Gmail Inbox with the messages actually listed in the appropriate section on
the Yahoo site. I have established that a few messages posted to the list
(including two from myself) disappear between the Yahoo system and
Googlemail.
My first thought was that they were being bounced, but the History of the
Gmail address in my Yahoo account states clearly that there have been no
bounces. Nor are the messages in the Spam folder of my Gmail account.
I appreciate that an odd message might go astray, but this seems
ridiculous.
I wonder whether anyone with a better understanding of the working of the
e-mail system than I have could offer any suggestions.
Many thanks,
Douglas
