Hi, thanks for that. I'm sure we have such cables, so we'll give it a go. -- Chris Hallsworth Derbyshire, UK e-mail: christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx msn: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx The general rule is uk telephone to flat pstn jack, modem to rj11 square jack. Plug squarish plug into modem and other end of cable, with another squarish plug into squareish port on filter. Hth. Hope to hear from you soon. From Martin. That I've no idea. I just know that it's connected to the DSL filter. The modem is provided by Sky and we didn't buy it. -- Chris Hallsworth Derbyshire, UK e-mail: christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx msn: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx Hi, I mean how is the modem connected to the phone socket? Which modem do you have? Is this what you mean? If so, it's a DSL modem. -- Chris Hallsworth Derbyshire, UK e-mail: christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx msn: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx Hi, How is the modem currently connected. What type of cable is it? I doubt they would provide you with the wrong cable. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Sent: 22 July 2008 19:09 To: Andrew Hodgson Subject: [access-uk] Re: Microfilter question Thanks for the help. We followed the step-by-step guide, and there was little or no mention of this slot, hence my question. So will we be able to use the internet, even without this cable? If so, then fine, as I could get the required cable from PCWorld or something. Thanks again, greatly appreciated. -- Chris Hallsworth Derbyshire, UK e-mail: christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx msn: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx Hi, On the microfilter there are two connections: - The standard BT UK telephone socket which you can plug a regular phone into. - An RJ11 modem socket which the ADSL router/modem plugs into. Some routers/modems come with two types of cable - the RJ11 to UK phone socket, and an RJ11 to RJ11. When you are using splitters on the same line as voice communication, you should use the RJ11 to RJ11. It is very important to ensure that you don't plug telephone extensions that are going to be used for voice into the RJ11 sockets, and also that you don't plug in telephone extensions that terminate at your router into the standard BT phone socket. Thanks. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Sent: 22 July 2008 18:14 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Microfilter question Hi all, we've just set up our network so we're ready for broadband this coming Thursday. However, I have a question. In the package were 3 microfilters, which are all set up. However, when I saw one of the filters, it had both a phone cable slot and a modem cable slot. We fitted the phone cables into the appropriate slot on both the filters and the phone lines. However, what is the modem cable slot for? For now we're not using it, however is this required for a successful broadband experience? I was at least able to see my wireless connection, and has connected to the network successfully, so the network itself is working properly, but we're not sure about this extra slot on our microfilters. Thanks in advance for answering my question, and I look forward to hearing from you. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 3289 (20080722) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
