[access-uk] Re: Laser Printers

Lazer gives the best print quality but I know the lazer is much more expensive. Personally I would not get a lazer one as I only use mine for letters and addressing envelopes. If it were for something I needed to have for work, then possibly I would want a Lazer. Replacement of cartridge in an ink-jet will also be cheaper.

So, am I correct in thinking that a laser printer should be much less
trouble to maintain than an ink jet? Which gives the best print quality?

Hi Ibrahim

I use a mono laser. It's a Samsung ML2151 which I've had about four
years. It prints at 20 pages per minute and has two trays, one to hold
a whole ream of paper, and the other to do envelopes and labels. It
runs on USB and Parallel, though I use it on USB.

Before that, I had a Brother mono laser for years. When I was doing my
journalism courses at college, I did get a cheap HP inkjet so I could
work with colours as colour lasers were very big and expensive then.
But I only ever used it when I had to do something say for a cover or
magazine, and I gave it to my son who still uses it today.

Colour lasers have diminished in size and price to what they were, but I
guess it depends how much you will use it, and may well find that a mono
will do the job for straightforward documents.

Hi Jackie.

Do you use a monochrome machine IE black and greyscale or do you have a
colour machine. When I returns this Lexmark, I may go for a laser
again.
