Just want to comment on using JAWS with laptops.
I'm running JAWS 8.0.423 demo here on a Toshiba laptop running XP Home
SP2 and JAWS works flawlessly. I also know that JAWS works flawlessly on
a friend's HP laptop, HP Presario to be precise, also running the same
demo version of JAWS and the same operating system.

Have you tried other versions of JAWS by the way? Be sure the window is
maximised. You can quite easily run into a situation, without realising
it, and the window isn't maximised. I find reading can get problematic
when you have a number of programmes opened.
