use antispyware software such as Adaware and Spybot Search and destroy for a
start.

This is useful if the PC is generally slow even when not using the wireless
connection e.g. when typing a word document.

Subject: [access-uk] Laptop advice

Hi all,
I'm posting on behalf of a friend whose computer is sluggish to the point
that it's slow enough to do anything, even checking e-mails on her wireless
connection. She suspects it's a computer virus, and I advised that she keeps
an eye on it for now. The thing is, though, she has AVG 7.5 Free with the
latest updates, and therefore I would be surprised if she's picked up a
virus that AVG failed to detect as so far she's not had any since using the
product. What advice can you give, apart from keep an eye on it? She's using
a Toshiba laptop running Windows XP Home SP2 with all updates, and JAWS 8.
This has only happened today. Thanks in advance for the help.
