Hi George

Thanks for that. Just called them, did what they suggested and have now got to take the poor old soul to the doctor's. Hope it's not terminal or too damned expensive.

Hi Roger,

You might just have to call Toshiba on 01932 841600

George.

Subject: [access-uk] Laptop Problem

Hi All

My wife is running a Toshiba Tetra 8000 with Windows XP Pro.
Yesterday it
cut the screen and came up with a message to load the EC/KPC
disc. We
haven't got one and can't download one from the Toshiba
site. She cannot
turn the machine off any way except by the socket on the
wall as the Start
doesn't respond and neither does the machine's on/off
switch.

A search on the net gives some answers which basically is
that the BIOS has
changed. The answer is to enter the BIOS and set it all to
default. But I
can't do this as the site says to turn the machine off and
re-start it
continually hitting the f1 key. This still brings up the
EC/KPC message.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Roger
