Mandy, I'm not your expert. Ask Steve what he thinks . . .. Our router was probably four years old. -- Carol carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: Mandy To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, July 28, 2007 5:50 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Laptop Not Staying On Internet. Which number did you use? Our router is two years old or thereabouts would that be too old or is it simply that it's a Belkin? Steve helped me with the bits I couldn't manage myself. -- Carol carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: Mandy To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, July 28, 2007 5:16 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Laptop Not Staying On Internet. Hi Carol. How did you get it set up and also which number did you use I've just been talking to Steve Nutt on msn about it he recommends Linksys WRT300N. Mandy, For what it's worth, I had a similar problem when I introduced my laptop to an older router. Until then everything was fine and I connected with no problems to both the main computer and two BrailleNote machines on a regular basis. When the new laptop came along, things were bad and, like you, the router would go out every few minutes for no real apparent reason. I figured I couldn't find the problem and, in the end, went for a newew Linksys router. I haven't looked back since. -- Carol carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: Mandy To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, July 28, 2007 1:31 PM Subject: [access-uk] Laptop Not Staying On Internet. Hi I'm still grappling with problem and without a solution I just have to reboot every ten minutes or so. Someone suggested I try using the laptop in same room as router - makes absolutely no difference at all. I'm currently using hardwired but this is not a workable permanent solution at all. Even when the laptop loses internet connection it still says wireless connected with strong signal strength. I don't know who to ask or how to go about finding a solution. The Router is Belkin 54G. Anybody know how complicated or otherwise a firmware upgrade is? I do have a link that takes me to it on the desktop or at least I think it does. We've seen routers which don't seem very expensive but then I still don't know who will set it all up for me. I'm tired of problems I just want to use this laptop with none. Okay so I can't link directly onto links in emails and none of the solutions have helped but it's a minor problem and although annoying I can live with it. Mandy.
