the latest version of J-Say 6.1 is perfectly compatible with Vista, and yes you do need a secific build of JAWS 9. which is build 2169.

Hi Dave,

The more access technology you are intending to use on your laptop the
more memory it needs so I'd say if you can get 4 gig get it. It'll be
very good for your system!

As for windows Vista. I am not sure whether the altest version of j-say
will work with vista at the moment. That'd be worth to check in
beforehand. I've been told that in order to run j-say without
complications you need all exact versions of jaws and windows etc.

I hope that helps
Madleen

Subject: [access-uk] Laptop Memory& Chip spec

Hi All,

I am currently investigating the replacement of my desktop with a
Notebook pc.
My desktop has a 3.2 Gigahertz, dual core chip and 2 Gigabytes of RAM,
The highest spec of Notebook is 2.4 Gigahertz, dual core chip and 4
Gigabytes of RAM, and the next lower spec has the same chip, but 2
Gigabytes of RAM.

I am using JAWS, J-Say and running Windows XP Pro. Next year my company
may roll out Windows Vista.
Considering I use a number of memory hungry applications, should I
insist on the 4 Gigabytes of RAM, or is 2 Gigabytes sufficient.

Thanks in advance

Dave Ankers
