Yeah, I know about their policy and reckon it's good. Thanks for your feedback. Think I'll put it in the letter to Santa! <Smiles>

Carol, Kurzweil is now much more accurate than version 8. I have version ten andfind I get far better scans than with version nine. After scanning a book Ioften have a result of %99.8 accuracy which is far better than I used toget. Another advantage of upgrading with Kw is that you do not have to payfor the upgrades you missed. Therefore, if you go from 8 to 11, which isthe current version, you do not pay for 9 and 10 which you missed. If onlyJaws had the same upgrade policy. Having purchased Kurzweil some time back, I'm not going to go out and get anything else - just will possibly upgrade that which I know ... If I had nothing then now I'd probably go for Abby Finereader Cheers. -- Carol carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Godfrey-McKay" <richard@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, November 04, 2007 8:46 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: KURZWEIL 1000 UPGRADE? Hi Jackie and Carol, Some time ago I switched from OpenBook and now use Abby FineReader. It's about £70 (about half the cost of an Openbook upgrade) and I'm wondering what the bespoke blindness products offer that I don't get with Abby? From my perspective, I think that following my switch, I got betterrecognition, and better access to PDF files. I lost text to speech (which Inever used) but can't think of anything else off hand. I'd be very interested to know why people still seem to prefer the other products.
