[access-uk] Re: K-NFB Reader comes to mobile phone

Hi Andy

I understand that the Inland Revenue has said that the product cannot be
zero-rated because it is a commercially available phone which is just being
layered with software. So some sort of compromise has been reached where there
has to be some rating implemented as a halfway house I guess.

And yes, the software is about £1,100 on its own if you want it for your N82,
but bear in mind it has to go on the N82 if you have one.

Jackie - Thanks for checking this out for us.

do you understand why this has a vat rating at all, when software such as JFW
and TALKS is 0 rated? Are you abel to confirm that the software alone cost
£1080? -

Subject: [access-uk] K-NFB Reader comes to mobile phone

    Hi All

Please forgive me for cross-posting this information, but I know there are
individuals on lists that will want to be aware of it.

Some know I have the K-NFB Reader, and have read that it is to be launched
on a mobile phone with TALKS. As I have been asked about the cost, I decided
to check this out to pass on, so below is what I have been advised by Sight and
Sound, who are the only UK dealer for this project.

The K-NFB Reader software will come on an N82 mobile with TALKS Premium.
If you buy the whole thing from scratch, it will cost £1,725 plus a VAT rating
of 5%. This includes a couple of hours training.

If you already own a K-NFB Reader, and wish to trade it in for the mobile
containing all the above software, it will cost £885 plus a 5% VAT rating.

Additionally, there are other options you can consider. These include
purchasing the K-NFB software on its own to put on an N82 you may wish to
purchase separately.

Currently, the N82 is the only mobile which supports this software.

I haven't seen the phone myself so I don't know what its specifications
are, but it shouldn't be too difficult to obtain them by looking on
    www.expansys.com
or other mobile phone outlets such as Vodafone, O2, Orange etc.

There has not yet been an official launch of this product by Sight and
Sound, but this information has come from Mervyn Robertson, so it is valid and
up-to-date.

Hope some of you find this useful.

    Jackie
