Hold down the insert key before pressing the number 2 key on the numbers row,
not the number pad. Keep hitting number 2 until Jaws says "words".

Hi. I can not get Jaws to read in word echo as I write. I get Jaws
speaking in character mode. I did hold down the Jaws Cursor key and press
number pad 2 to change this but it doesn't alter the setting.
