Hi,

You're both within your rights. I have to say that my perception is that
there has been very little improvement in Jaws now for a very long time. I
think the last really good innovation was the quick navigation keys.
Meanwhile, GW Micro has simplified Window Eyes and made it work well with
more applications. I do personally think that Dectalk is awful and well out
of date. Eloquence is certainly better. I quite like the idea of an
alternative Say All command to use with Dnaiel which does not mean switching
synths. I also feel that Dolphin aren't as far behind now. In fact, they
are probably the closest they have been since the DOS days, then there are
alternatives like System Access as well, which is actually pretty good at a
lot of the basic things.

Jaws users do know that tere are unstable versions. It is what makes us
wonder if it's really worth the bother of upgrading each time. I think the
last really good version was a long time ago, though I have forced 7.0 to
work. I gave up on 7.1 and went back. But to expect customers to use an
unstable version knowing there will be a better one is arogant indeed, and
that, in my view, would appear to be FS's problem. They are now too big and
there are things going on way about Eric's head, which I'm sure he must not
feel entirely happy about. GW are still small enough to respond, and small
enough to want to invest in getting the testing process right, which is
crucial.

Cheers
Dave
