Despite Microsoft's urgings it is unlikely many companies with managed desktops will migrate to VISTA the day it comes out, six months maybe even a year will elapse before those kinds of customers come on board, so for work one should not worry that Jaws doesn't have VISTA support just yet. Without breaking too many confidences I have had some direct experience of Jaws already working on VISTA. I will stick my neck out and say generally the problem you are all going to find with VISTA is not that it does not read, but where the hell everything is that you used to know how to get to, like in the control panel. FS have quite rightly refrained from declaring Jaws VISTA compliant until final testing and tweaks can be done on an operating system that is not yet released into the public domain. If you buy a PC now it is likely that it can take VISTA but a PC with VISTA already installed will not be available until January 30th. Some PCs currently being sold will have a free VISTA upgrade from Windows XP or Media Centre, this will be a disk in the post after VISTA's release and it will be up to the user to choose whether to install it. If you in the market for a PC this Christmas you may wish to confirm the position with your dealer. Issues arising from Jaws 8.0 are under invetigation. With relevance particularly to the web investigations will perhaps take a little time as it may be necessary to speak with the developers of some sites to establish why Jaws is not functioning on these websites so the problem can be fixed.
