Hi Isaac Thanks for that, I'll give it a go later today maybe when the sun has gone down, I don't want to spend too much time indoors, it's too nice, am stuck in side all winter. You can find the tool I mentioned before here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 I used it before and it was accessible but not sure about the latest version. What I propose is that you first remove using Add / Remove programs (the usual Windows way) all the java versions you can find and can remove this way. Then using the above tool remove any remaining Java entry in the programs list in Add / Remove programs. Then delete the folder: C:Programs Files\Java (assuming you installed it there) Then install Java version 6 update 13 again. Note that you don't have to remove any actual Java programs that you may have installed on your system during the above process; these will work once you have reinstalled Java. Good luck Regards Isaac -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Adrien Sent: 05 June 2009 22:30 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Java help please Hi Isaac Yes I have the latest version installed, version 6 and 13, I've tried to remove the previous ones but it won't remove them, unless they are already removed and windows hasn't removed them from the add-remove list which is why it is reinstalling them. Every two months or so there is a new update of Java. Until update 10 about six months ago as you said, new Java updates were installed in different folders. From that time, all updates are installed into the same folder. Assuming you don't have a Java program running at the time, You should be able to remove all your previous installations of Java (leave update 13 if you got it as I think it is the latest one. If you can not remove Java, there is something wrong with your system. I have used before a Microsoft tool that can remove stubborn programs - I can try looking for it again for you. I think there are 5 altogether, but they only vary in colour. I would be interested to know the models of laptop coolers you have tried and which you find particularly good. A variable fan does sound as if it would be a good idea as you could presumably alter the speed of the fan depending on the temperature in the room at the time. I'd also like to know approximately how large these coolers are and whether they're the kind of size which could conveniently fit into a laptop case. Something of that size would be ideal. Thanks, Caroline. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shane Harris" <wighttiger12@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Caroline Ford" <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 03, 2009 12:37 PM Subject: [access-uk] In Reply To: Reducing Laptop Temperature > Hi caroline > > I have 3 different laptop coolers and would definitely recommend that > you purchase one fitted with a variable speed fan.
