Hi. As many will know here, I don't use the shark. An organisation I know
of here seems to be serious about buying a screen reader to make its
e-learning course accessible to VI people. That'sd great, especially as
they are not an organisation serving VI people as a specialist client group.
Apart from issues of training and support, there is the issue of a screen
reader working with the apps involved.
As yet I haven't assertained the exact programs that will be used, but if
one or more turned out to be non-Office apps, or were to stray outside of
Internet Explorer, then what of obtaining well written scripts for such
apps? Is there anyone in business actually writing these on demand?
As good as JAWS is, this is the obvious drawback to the program. Often its
only as good as the scripts written to work with an application.
For that matter, how would they fair with HAL? Is Dolphin - and maybe Brian
Hargen - the only shows in town?
Comments will be much appreciated.
Ray.
