[access-uk] Re: Is this the end for accessibility to Nokia mobile phones?

I would say nothing is completely clear just yet here. The information is only
that Nokia may have an alliance to develop Windows 7 phones nothing more. It
is unlikely that at the very bottom end of their ranges the Symbian 40 units
which actually sell well will not continue to be developed. There is nothing
for definite that suggests Symbian 60 will "definitely" disappear as yet.
Those who already have phones with TALKS will find they continue to work just
as they have for now. The announcement people should be watching for if any is
that from Nuance themselves.

Regards.

It isn't the first time I've heard this rumble in the jungle about Talks
being shelved from further development despite those who sell it wanting to
deny the fact. Maybe there is no truth in it, but it's one rumour that is
persisting.

Nokia have today announced that they are partnering with MicroSoft and will
be using the Microsoft Windows Mobile 7 operating system which is presently
inaccessible.

The noise suggests that the Symbian operating system, which Talks runs on,
will be sidelined.

So, by extension, does this mean that Talks is now dead in the water?

I speak as a long time Talks user who would be a bit disappointed if so.

Is Apple iPhone the only choice left now?
