so you mean now is the time to buy an Iriver player and then hope that eventually the Rockbox port will be completed? <g> I'm seriously thinking about that as I missed the boat with the Archos ones. <g>

Hi Doris,

I didn't mention Rockbox, because by the time it was developed for the
Archos players, they were discontinued. It's a bit like painting the Fourth
Bridge. By the time they develo Rockbox for the Iriver players, Iriver will
come out with new ones that aren't Rockbox compatible, and so it begins
again.

Rockbox is a worthy cause, but so far behind development of the players.

All the best

Work is beingdone on porting the Rockbox firmware to certain Iriver
harddrive-based mp3 players. This is the firware that made the Archos
Jukeboxes talk. However, the port to the Iriver players is in the
developmental stage still and not ready for primetime yet.
