Hi Jackie,

Thank you for your info. My grandson is with me today and he has just
bought the Ipod touch, but he has not brought it with him so I am not
able to find out if one can tern on the speech on his Ipod. I know very
little about iPods and at the moment I do not own one, but I have just
bought a Sony Z 100 and it has an iPod docking station, so that is why I
started this enquiry. I think that I am still at Confused.com!!!

Hi David

This kind of response is general from shops when it comes to assistive
technology.  I had a similar reaction from Vodafone recently and had to
tell them how to activate speech on the IPhone too.

You do not download software to make your IPod speak.  You activate it
by going into ITunes on the Nano, and turning it on within the device
itself if you have an ITouch.

As an Apple novice, I think this is how it goes? (smile).

I have been reading all the emails that have been sent to this list
about ipods, and have found them very interesting. Today I went into
Curry's and HMV and I was told that the iPod touch and the Nano will
speak but you need to download the software from the internet.

Also I went into vodafone shop and spoke to them about the I phone and
they did not know that the I phone had speech in it, and I had to tell
them how to make it speak. So it seems to me that one needs to know much
more about I T things before going around the shops.
