I’ve just called Microsoft Support regarding this and was told to access my system would cost me £69 with no follow up Access with 6 months follow-up £169 and no guarantee with either for a successful outcome. Obviously never heard of no fix no pay. All you on these lists who repair/maintain computers would love their scale of charges but I don’t think you’d get many customers returning for other problems. Taking the tower to the local shop tomorrow where the charges are not so high and a guarantee is given. Roger . I then created IE9 as my default as you said and then opened IE. No problems. I tried to open from a link in an email and again got the message box saying there was a problem. My opinion, for what it’s worth, is that so many people have looked at this trying to solve it the IE9 program is corrupted. When I upgraded to IE10 I lost access to IE completely so I’m reluctant to make that same mistake. Any Ideas? This can be found on the Programs tab. I have just found out that if I go into Firefox Tool/Options/Advanced and uncheck the “Make Firefox the Default Browser” it wall then allow me access to make IE my default which is what I want. However it seems to have created another problem. If I hit a link such as in an email I get a message box appear with the link address along the top as the heading and the message stating: There was a problem sending the command to the program with only an OK button as the way out. I can open both IE and Firefox as normal but not as a link from elsewhere. Can anyone advise me as to how I move forward on this please Many thanks Roger
