Hi all,
I haven't got any specialist kit on our home contents policy with Norwich
Union. However when I lost a Parrot Voicemate while out and about, I simply
phoned in a claim for its replacement value. They coughed up with no
questions. This may have been because this was a relatively low value item.

Cheers now.

Ian

.Paul, Unison do my PacMate for about £25 per year; I think the question of
.premium rates depends on whether the insurers think it's an item likely to
.be pinched; I explained that there was no screen to break, and that it
.wouldn't be much use to a visually-dependent person. On that basis they
.just added it to my contents policy. Value wouldn't have been a prob
  .either.

  .Hi,
  .
.Apologies for cross-posting, but could do with some advice from someone
.who's been through this scenario before!
  .
.Has anyone had experience with getting insurance cover for specialist kit?
.When I spoke to the providers of my home contents insurance about naming my
.BrailleNote PK on the policy, I was told that they only covered items up to
.the value of £3,000 under my policy, and that I'd need to take out a
.separate policy for an item valued higher than this, and the payment would
.work out at about £190 P.A. That's nearly on a par with our car insurance!
.Has anyone managed to get a better deal than that for expensive specialist
  .items I wonder?
  .
  .Cheers.
  .
  .Paul.
