hello clive, yes i would do that the reason is that windows me works on a platform of fat 32 and windows xp pro works on the platform of ntsf so you can't have both operating systems on one drive.

Hello Anthony,

Your suggestions work, but Windows XP setup has created another partition, so executing the format command only works on that partition. My wife is trying to delete that partition so Windows XP Pro is the sole operating system. Windows ME is still on the disk, so would it be advisable to use Fdisk to delete the partition windows XP has created so she can format the entire drive and do a fresh install of Windows XP Pro?

Best wishes,

Clive pallet
