Hi
Alistair

You should uninstall all other antivirus products before installing MSE as it is a complete antivirus solution. You can however run complementary products such as a firewall or antimalware removal tool like malwarebytes.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Ibrahim, hope damon doesn't mind me asking but is security essentials a
addition to already running anti-virus such as AVG or is this a stand alone programme which protects the pc without any additional software? I have had
a brief look at the info and downloaded the programme but not as yet
installed it.

thanks

alistair

Hi Damon.

The installation of MSE is extremely straight forward, fully accessible and pretty much self managing. You'll click through a couple of screens where the license agreement and welcome messages appear, then the program will install of its own account, then you'll be asked to reboot your machine. Only thing you need to bare in mind is that MSE only works on validated IE legal copies of Windows as it is a product only available to genuine advantage customers.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Are there any difficulties or tricks you need to keep in mind when
installing MSE?

In the past I've seen that some have had a few accessibility issues with
some of the tickboxes.

Any hints appreciated.

Hi Peter

I uninstalled Nod32 once its licence ran out, then installed MSE. I
wouldn't personally ever run two antivirus packages together as I
believe it drains your CPU resources, and your screen reader already
does that anyway.

I had nothing against Nod32, but feel MSE is still lighter yet. So far,
I am very pleased with it as it works nicely in the background, and
doesn't seem to interfere or intrude with the running of the machine.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

I am currently using NOD32 anti virus software. My subscription is
about to run out and I am considering replacing it with Microsoft
essentials.
Should I uninstall NOD32 before installing MS essentials? Can I run
them both together?

Any advice much appreciated.
