I don't know whether you have any vision. I don't. I went to the link where
you have to go to start the application process and near the bottom of that
pagethere is a link that says "there is a text onlyversion of this site.

Hi Peter
I can see the link that says "Accessibility", but nothing about a text
version of the site - it just gives advice on the access keys, alternative ways
of accessing PDF, advice for Apple Mac users, and so on.

I have just tried to fill this in, and when I got to the continue
button, I was informed that my browser doesn't appear to support java aplets.
Incidentally, there is a text only version of the site so may try that just as
a matter of interest.

Hi All
I wonder if a JAWS user could try something out for me?
I've been looking at the Equality 2025 website at
www.equality2025.co.uk, where there is an opportunity to apply for a place on
their group. I have downloaded all the information for prospective applicants,
which is available in Word (and PDF, I think), and the Word version is
certainly very accessible. However, I chose the link to the online application
form (the link is just entitled "Apply"). I registered my application, and
then I think this was where the problems started. I got a message up on screen
about a security certificate, but this wasn't read out at all. When I tried to
use the JAWS cursor it appeared as if the message was a graphic as the cursor
seemed to skip straight from the title of the message to the bottom of the
screen. I could just about read the message visually, which (from memory) I
think was asking me if I wanted to accept the certificate. I clicked "Yes"
using the mouse. I was presented with similar screens after that that were not
read out. If I tabbed round the links, I was told things like "FAQ button",
"Next Button", etc - but pressing "Enter" on "Next" didn't seem to work - I
seemed to have to click the "Next" button. On another screen I was just told
"Button", "Button", etc!!
So - can someone try visiting www.equality2025.co.uk and have a go at
the first stage of the application form? Considering this is a government
website and is for a group that only wants disabled people to apply for its
posts, I think the fact that this application form appears to be inaccessible
to visually impaired people is appalling!! Have we been forgotten? It makes
me want to apply even more!!
I look forward to hearing from someone about how they got on!!
