Ray, here is what to do. If you have to phone your friend, this is what
he does. First, make sure that Jaws is loaded.
1. hit the windows key.
2. hit the letter P.
3. Hit enter.
4. Hit the letter E.
5. Hit the letter V.
Wait a second or four.
6. Now tab twice.
7. hit the spacebar once.
If you phone him and run him through this procedure all should be well,
assuming he has his computer on Classic mode.

Hi list.
A friend, the same one who had to ddowngrade to Windows XP home
to use JAWS standard and who needed help with BT interenet, has
had another problem, and not just once. The speech and sound
from his computer have just vanished!
He's totaly blind so its very hard to tell him what he might do
to get the PC up and talking again. So, folks, how do you get
sound back when it vanishes?
No, the speakers are connected and OK, the volume is turned up.
There's just no sound. I think it is the mixer volume controls
being altered, most likely a mute setting. So, is there a
command, or some sort of script file that stands a good chance of
recovering lost sound? Such a thing ought to be possible to
help, at least in some cases. Any thoughts?
Ray
