Hi Andy,
Think though that I installed to my music folder alright!
Will try tomorrow what you say as I wasn't doing any of that really earlier.
Thanks so much indeed to you and John.

Tony - highlight the file you want to work with. Press the application key,
and arrow to edit with wavepad sound editor. Hit the enter key to select this
option, and wavpad will open, it might take a few second to load, then press
the space bar to begin playing the file. go to the menues to make your
selection for what you wish to do with the file, most of what you need will be
under the edit menu.
HTH -
Andy

Hi John & Andy,
I downloaded the programme and it went to the my documents folder.
I played a song which is in that same folder, hitt the apps key but while
it saw Wavepad it wouldn't do anything for me!
I wonder if I should move Wavepad to a different area?

Hi Tony, I think it's excellent. As far as help files go I don't think
there is one, but it's simple to use. There are only a couple of options that
come to mind that someone not acquainted with audio processing may not
understand, but as the majority of options are self explanatory one wouldn't be
needed. Most people would have come across terms like cut, copy and paste. To
use those options you just treat the audio as if you were editing text, using
the markers to set the area to be affected.
I've never found a programme which does as much as it does in as
straightforward a way. I promise you, you won't have to learn to use it as you
may audacity or goldwave.
Incidentally, andy's post reminded me of something I hadn't mentioned.
Open with Wavepad should be on the context menu of your audio files.
Let me know how you get on,
John.
It really is a simple point and shoot programme.

Hi John,
Perhaps one final question from me on this.
Is there a Read Me file with it and how good do you find it?
Thanks,

Hi Tony, yes. It's a great little programme. When you first install
it it'll work as the pay version, till the trial time for the pay version is
coming to an end, then you get a popup inviting you to buy the pay version. If
you say no it carries on working, just disabling the extra functions.
That doesn't make much difference though. All of what you'd
generally use is in the free version. I use it a lot to edit stuff downloaded
from IPlayer, to cut off the surplus. All you need to do is to set the markers
at the beginning of the section you want to cut, press enter and it's done. You
can also copy and paste blocks in the same way. You can also super impose one
file over another using the mix file function, and insert a file at the
beginning, the end or current position.
The only slight negative I've found with it is moving backwards or
forwards. It's quite slow.
Good luck with it,
John.

Hi John
I too am interested in that programme.
I presume you copy the file you wish to edit from in to Wavepad
and work away as you described earlier?
Thanks,

Hi Barbara, editing a file in it is as simple as editing text in
notepad. To
do what you describe, saving a section as a separate file do this:
1 Play or fast forward to the beginning of the clip you want to
save. On the
edit menu go to set first position and press enter. Then play or
fast
forward to the end of the section, go to the edit menu and press
enter on
set second position.
Then go to the edit menu and press enter on save select region
as and
press enter. Give it whatever name you want and save.
John.
