Andrew,

Although fortunately hearing is not a problem for myself, my wife needs
quite powerful hearing aids and is currently struggling with a new pair. She
would certainly sympathise with your current problems.

I follow two yahoo lists (hearing-_aids and beyond-hearing) of which the
subscribers include several people with both visual impairment and hearing
loss. There are some very knowledgeable and helpful people on them and
I have been able to pass on quite a lot of useful information to my wife.

hope that helps,

Douglas
