Hi Dorris, BTW Sorry for not getting back to your kind offer in a private mail a few months back. I can't remember what it was for but I do feel guilty as didn't' mean to ignore you! OK The recovery Console IMHO is out for speech support. There's bound to be away of accessing it without sight if only by remember keystokres. I'd google to see what blind sys admins are doing with it. It's not an area I've ever used. Machines I admin I normally have images for and if they wont' boot I take the drive out, wack it ina caddy and re-image. If it's a customers hard drive I perform data recovery, including taking stock of apps, settings, personal files, inc email etc. Copy that to another location I then automate a Windows install with their licenced disc. Set back up and image. Imaging is possibly one of the most useful ways for a blind person to get their machine back to a useable state. A blind tech that is as normal people don't enjoy, or evne want to know about this stuff. Which is all good cause otherwise I'd have to start thinking about a different line of work than Infastructure. However, the recovery console is a console that loads before windows logon and with no sound drivers in place when called up. How do you get speech in this environment? is there any dos screenrader that will read the widnows console at this point? Is there a scripted way to automate this process? i think there are third party tools that can be run from within windows gui to fix mbr problems but i do not recall details at the moment. Thanks much.
