HARRY POTTER AND ACCESS TO BOOKSI am not Ian, but Bloomsbury, HP publishers,
were in dispute with ASDA over unpaid bills. I think ASDA can sell it for
whatever they like, it just depends on how much of a loss leader they can
afford.
The dispute is now settled.

Philip

Ian - I thought I heard last weekend that the supplier of the HP to Asda had
cancelled their order because they discovered Asda were going to sell it at
£8.95 instead of the regular price of £17.99. Maybe you have the updated info
on this, but it surprises me as it's contrary to what the supplier made public
a few days ago!
Not that I'm sure what difference it makes to the supplier, as they will
still get paid whatever the agreed wholesale price is.

The availability of the new HP in accessible formats on the Same Book, Same
Time, Same Price principle was discussed here recently. However, a piece on
Today this morning reported that hardly anyone will be selling the book at it's
cover price. ASDA has discounted it to £5. Not very likely, is it, that
similar offers will be made to consumers of Braille or Daisy versions? My
guess is that many people who're fans and who can - of whom I'm the latter but
not the former - will head for their nearest supermarket and get the book on
their scanner.
