Léonie,

Never underestimate the sheer obliviousness of the male!
I've only been blind for 6 years now and I'm not sure I noticed much more
when I could see, it's a bloke thing.

Cheers
Karl

This is a good point. I've met one person four or five times. On at
least two of those occasions I have been carrying either my symbol cane or
my long walking cane.

It was only after having apparently bumped into him at a conference
and, since I naturally hadn't spotted him, that he mentioned to a colleague
that I'd blanked him completely. When my colleague explained the situation,
he was absolutely astounded. It's reasonably evident that there is something
wrong with my eyes, as they're almost completely silvery in colour where the
iris should be. Besides, you'd think the long white cane might have given it
away in any case...

Léonie.

Hi Eleanor.. Don't take this the wrong way as we're all in the same
predicament. You would look just as blind weather you had a guide dog or a
cane. Its how confident you come across will impress the public and they
might just forget you are visually impaired smiles.
