Catherine - I love newsgator.com
Really easy to use and you can configure it in lots of ways too. For example
you can set different locations such as home and office and then choose which
of your feeds, or groups of feeds, are displayed when you log-in from those
locations. You can organise feeds in to folders which you name yourself and
then opt to have all stories from that folder displayed in your preferred
order, such as oldest first, of course with duplicates ignored. You can set
how many stories are displayed at a time - anywhere between 20 and 50 I think -
and you can choose if the headline, a summary, or the whole story is displayed
on screen. If you opt for either of the first 2 you just select the headline
to open it in a new window or tab.
Headlines are displayed as headers so it's really easy to jump through stories
no matter how long or short they are.
You can choose whether to mark stories as read manually, have them marked
automaticly when they are displayed, and can drag those you want to keep off to
a clippings folder (and sub folders within that folder if you want to create
them). and of course you can set this marking preference differently for your
different locations.

It does use javascript quite heavily and some use of frames too, jaws copes
just fine but I don't know what the browser is like on the Braille note. Let us
know if you give it a try.

You can also sync newsgator online with newsgator in-box, the outlook plug-in
(also free) so you can move seamlessly between machines.

If you do get to like it there are a couple of handy things hidden away in the
extras area of the site such as a tool to add a "subscribe in newsgator online"
function, to the right click menu in internet explorer, and a personalised url
to add feeds to your account - use this stem and paste any feed url to the end
of it and then paste the whole thing in to your browser to add a new
subscription - a bit quicker than going to the site, and going to the add new
subscription link and pasting the url in there.

Subject: [access-uk] Google reader or other RSS reader?

Hi,

I've used Accessible RSS for quite some time and really liked it, but now if
possible I want to go to a browser based way of receiving RSS feeds.

I know Internet Explorer can do feeds, but really I want to do this via a
website so I can do it with my BrailleNote as well. Since I use googlemail I
thought I'd give the google reader a try. I'm just wondering whether anyone
else has used this? Or has anyone used any other sites to read RSS? I'd be
grateful for any comments people could offer...
