Fair for once I must come to the defence of RNIB, I did not get it from them but from the Switch Over people. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Yusuf" <yusufaosman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Eleanor, The RNIB do have Braille instructions for the Goodmans, its poor that they don't ask you when you place an order for one. There's also an electronic version, or at least there was an electronic version of the instructions on the Goodmans product page of the RNIB shop site.Yusuf On 19/03/2012 10:07, Eleanor Burke wrote:How does one update the tuning on the Goodmans Free View Box? How come we never got Braille or CD instructions for its use? I have been away and have forgotten what button does what. Can anyone tell me the layout of the buttons please? Eleanor>>>>But I do recognise that not being able to access the TVsown menus, including scanning for channels and setting up the TTS independently are drawbacks, as is the inability to access the various web features. It is a step forward, I don't think we've ever had 30 tVswith TTS onboard released at the same time. It'll be interesting to see if other TV manufacturers take up the challenge.Yusuf On 18/03/2012 19:36, martin wilsher wrote:I agree with all that has been said here. the thing needsto beaccessible from the word go, and this isn't. what onearth were theRNIB thinking of when giving their blessing to this box?if it is notaccessible when you turn it on, it's not accessible atall imho.----- Original Message ----- *From:* IainLackie<mailto:ilackie@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>*To:*access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>*Sent:* Sunday, March 18, 2012 7:28 PM *Subject:* [access-uk] Re: Panasonic Viera smart TVwith Voiceguidance For a long time now, I have been saying that one ofthe points whichimpresses me still about the Sonus DAB radio is thatit allowsaccess to the menu system. The station names may beout of date, butI can live with that. Any television which doesn’tallow access byvoice to the menu system cannot in my view truly bedescribed asaccessible, especially if you have to gain access tothe menu systemto switch the voice on. The voice is good, it sounded betterthan my GoodmansSmart talk box and more responsive. IT speaks the channel, programme you are on andworks within theprogramme guide, but sadly doesn't work within thevarious settingsmenus. Ironically therefore like audio description on DVDsyou probablywon't be able to turn on the voice guidance withoutsighted help.Sadly therefore and very frustratingly given thesheer amount offunctionality and connectivity these TVs have(Internet, wifi,DLNA,USB,SD etc) most of the functionality willbe wasted sofar as a visually impaired user is concerned. There is a Viera remote control App for Appledevices, but i don'tthink this will help in providing access to themultiplicity of setup menus which controlmost of this very flexibleTV's features. The full price of the 32" model is around £499though it willprobably be available cheaper if you look around. whilst Panasonic are probably to be commended onincluding voiceguidance as standard across the range, it isnontheless veryfrustrating to be in effect short changed by thelimitations of whatthey have provided. I am going to try to speak to someone in panasonictechnicaldepartment and see if there is any way of gettingthe set up screeninformation output to an external device which mightgive a way ofgetting more access to these otherwise veryimpressive TVs.Gary** To leave the list, click on the immediately-followinglink:-**[mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe]** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click onthe** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-followinglink:-**[mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe]** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click onthe** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
