Ah, Steve, I had a feeling you'd said that to me once which makes it very attractive and worth a look some time soon.

Hi Chris,

This is slightly different if you access IMAP on a phone. The phone will
ask if you want to delete from the phone only, or from the phone and server.
You can decide at that time.

All the best

Steve

This is sort of correct. I forgot to mention that deleting mail doesn't
necessarily mean it's deleted off the server; mail clients by default mark
messages for deletion, so the next time the client connects to the server
the message(s) will be deleted during the synchronization process.

OK, so you then say you want to download X headers ... and presumably get
options later about deleting mail on server etc. Please tell me if this
is
so.

Googlemail now works with Imap. Your mail client connects to the Imap
server
like it would with Pop, but unlike Pop it only downloads the headers.
It's
then your choice as to whether to download the entire message or not. The folders that your mail client displays are actually folders stored on the
server and not folders created by your mail client. Hope this helps.

OK, thanks Steve. I had a feeling it wasn't going to work that way. I
don't really understand Imap though. Does Googlemail allow Imap mail,
does
anyone know? So, how does it all work then Steve?

Hi Carol,

With the phone, no. With computers, yes. This is not designed to work
with
Symbian phones.

The best way to synchronise any mail is to use Imap instead of Pop3 on
your
computer and your phone. Imap allows you to talk directly to the Email
server.

OK, so taking those limitations into account, can you syncronise mail
with
your phone, for example?

Hi Carol,

Looking at this more closely, the free version will, after 30 days of
unlimited use, only synchronise up to three jobs and up to 100 files.

It is not fully accessible, the options are a bit tricky to use,
because
the
checkboxes in the auto options are not labelled so WE and JFW can't
grab
what each checkbox does, but this is possible using the mouse or the
JAWS
cursor.

Hi,

Anyone used this? It seems to have a good rating and be able to back
up
between mobiles and desktops. I looked at

www.goodsync.com

but didn't find out what the difference was between the free version
and
the

pro ... so am interested if anyone has discovered or used it.

Thanks.
